VALENCIANITE ADULARIA, QUARTZ
VALENCIANITE ADULARIA, QUARTZ
SPECIMEN NR #:1711
VALENCIANITE is a distinct variety of feldspar, specifically a low-temperature variant of either microcline or orthoclase. It was first identified at the Valenciana Mine in Guanajuato, Mexico, and is associated with low-temperature hydrothermal deposits found in the Adula Alps of Switzerland. The mineral was initially described by Ermenegildo Pini in 1781. The characteristic optical phenomenon known as adularescence, commonly observed in moonstone, is primarily attributed to the presence of adularia.
