The oxide mineral class comprises minerals where the oxide anion (O2−) is combined with one or more metal alloys. Typically, minerals containing hydroxide are categorized within this class. In contrast, minerals featuring complex anion groups, such as silicates, sulfates, carbonates, and phosphates, are classified separately.
