Sulfate minerals are a distinct group characterized by the presence of the sulfate ion (SO2−4) in their composition. These minerals are frequently found in primary evaporite settings, serve as gangue minerals in hydrothermal veins, and appear as secondary minerals in the oxidizing zones of sulfide deposits. Additionally, chromate and manganate minerals share a similar structure and are often classified alongside sulfates in mineral classification systems.
