Brucit ist die Mineralvariante von Magnesiumhydroxid, dargestellt durch die chemische Formel Mg(OH)2. Es bildet sich üblicherweise als Alterationsprodukt von Periklas in Marmor und dient als Tieftemperatur-Hydrothermalgangmineral, das in metamorphen Kalksteinen und Chloritschiefern vorkommt. Zusätzlich entsteht Brucit während des Serpentinisierungsprozesses von Duniten. Dieses Mineral ist häufig mit anderen Mineralien wie Serpentin, Calcit, Aragonit, Dolomit, Magnesit, Hydromagnesit, Artinit, Talk und Chrysotil vergesellschaftet. Strukturell weist Brucit eine schichtartige Anordnung ähnlich der von CdI2 auf, wobei Wasserstoffbrückenbindungen die Schichten verbinden.
Brucit wurde erstmals 1824 von François Sulpice Beudant identifiziert und wurde zu Ehren des amerikanischen Mineralogen Archibald Bruce benannt, der von 1777 bis 1818 lebte. Eine faserige Form von Brucit, bekannt als Nemalit, erscheint in länglichen Fasern oder Leisten, typischerweise entlang der [1010]-Richtung ausgerichtet, obwohl sie auch in der kristallinen [1120]-Richtung gefunden werden kann.

For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
Return shipping costs are initially the responsibility of the customer. However, if your claim is approved after review, we will reimburse your reasonable return postage costs.
