Chalcedon ist eine kryptokristalline Varietät von Siliziumdioxid, die sich durch ihre feinen Verwachsungen von Quarz und Moganit auszeichnet, zwei Silikatmineralien, die sich in ihrer Kristallstruktur unterscheiden – Quarz ist trigonal und Moganit monoklin. Seine chemische Zusammensetzung ist hauptsächlich Siliziumdioxid (SiO2). Dieses Mineral weist einen wachsartigen Glanz auf und kann entweder halbtransparent oder durchscheinend sein, wobei es ein Spektrum von Farben zeigt, wobei die häufigsten Farbtöne Weiß, Grau, Graublau und verschiedene Brauntöne von hell bis fast schwarz sind. Im Handel erhältlicher Chalcedon wird oft durch Färben oder Erhitzen farblich verbessert. Der Begriff „Chalcedon“ leitet sich vom lateinischen Wort chalcedonius ab, wahrscheinlich in Verbindung mit der antiken Stadt Chalcedon in Kleinasien. Historische Hinweise auf Chalcedon finden sich in Plinius dem Älteren' Naturalis Historia, wo es als durchscheinende Form von Jaspis beschrieben wird, und in der Offenbarung des Johannes, die einen Edelstein namens Khalkedón erwähnt, dessen genaue Identität jedoch unsicher bleibt. Zusätzlich wird der Begriff „Plasma“ manchmal verwendet, um grünen durchscheinenden Chalcedon zu beschreiben.

For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
Return shipping costs are initially the responsibility of the customer. However, if your claim is approved after review, we will reimburse your reasonable return postage costs.
