Gold ist ein chemisches Element mit dem Symbol Au (abgeleitet vom lateinischen Wort aurum) und der Ordnungszahl 79. In seiner reinen Form erscheint Gold als helles, leicht orange-gelbes, dichtes, weiches, formbares und duktiles Metall. Es wird als Übergangsmetall klassifiziert und gehört zur Gruppe 11, womit es zu den Edelmetallen zählt. Gold ist eines der am wenigsten reaktiven chemischen Elemente und nimmt in der Reaktivitätsreihe den zweitniedrigsten Platz ein. Unter Standardbedingungen liegt es im festen Zustand vor.
Gold kommt häufig in seiner freien elementaren Form (gediegener Zustand) vor, als Nuggets oder Körner in Gesteinen, Adern und alluvialen Lagerstätten. Es ist in einer festen Lösungsserie mit dem gediegenen Element Silber (wie im Elektron) vorhanden, natürlich legiert mit anderen Metallen wie Kupfer und Palladium, und in Mineraleinschlüssen wie Pyrit. Weniger häufig ist es in Mineralien als Goldverbindungen zu finden, oft in Kombination mit Tellur (Goldtelluride).

For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
