Lazulith, auch bekannt als Azurspat, ist ein blaues Mineral, das von transparent bis halbopak reicht. Es besteht aus Magnesium-, Eisen- und Aluminiumphosphaten mit der chemischen Formel (Mg,Fe2+)Al2(PO4)2(OH)2. Lazulith ist Teil einer festen Lösungsreihe, die das dunklere, eisenreiche Mineral Scorzalith umfasst, das ebenfalls in dieser Probe zu finden ist.
Dieses Mineral kristallisiert im monoklinen System und zeigt typischerweise steile bipyramidale oder keilförmige Kristallformen. Lazulith hat eine Mohs-Härte zwischen 5,5 und 6,0 sowie eine spezifische Dichte von 3,0 bis 3,1. Es zeichnet sich durch seine Unschmelzbarkeit und Unlöslichkeit aus.
Gormanit ist ein extrem seltenes Phosphatmineral, das sich durch die chemische Formel (Fe,Mg)3Al4(PO4)4(OH)6·2H2O auszeichnet. Das Mineral ist benannt zu Ehren von Donald Herbert Gorman, einem Professor an der University of Toronto von 1922 bis 2020.
Es wurde erstmals 1981 identifiziert, mit bemerkenswerten Vorkommen in Rapid Creek und Big Fish River im Dawson Mining District des Yukon-Territoriums, Kanada. An diesen Typlokalitäten tritt Gormanit als Adern in Eisenphosphatknollen auf. Zusätzlich findet man es in Bisbee, Arizona, als beträchtliche Kristalle in Brüchen eines Tonalit-Intrusivgesteins.
Scorzalith ((Fe2+,Mg)Al2(OH,PO4)2) ist ein dunkelblaues Phosphatmineral, das aus Eisen, Magnesium und Aluminiumphosphat besteht. Es stellt das eine Ende einer festen Lösungsreihe mit Lazulith dar, das heller und magnesiumreicher ist.
Dieses Mineral kristallisiert im monoklinen System und zeigt eine dipyramidale Form. Mit einer Mohs-Härte von 5,5 bis 6 und einem spezifischen Gewicht von 3,4 zeichnet sich Scorzalith durch seine Unschmelzbarkeit und Unlöslichkeit in Wasser aus, wobei es nur eine geringe Löslichkeit in warmer Salzsäure zeigt.
