Levyn, auch bekannt als Levynit, ist ein hydratisiertes Silikatmineral, das als Zeolith klassifiziert wird. Es existiert in zwei primären Formen: Levyne-Na, das natriumdominant ist mit der Formel (Na2,Ca,K2)Al2Si4O12·6(H2O), und Levyne-Ca, das kalziumdominant ist mit der Formel (Ca,Na2,K2)Al2Si4O12·6(H2O). Dieses Mineral kristallisiert in der trigonalen-hexagonalen Skalenoedrischen Klasse und findet sich typischerweise in strahlenden Clustern oder faserigen Massen, wobei es eine Reihe von Farben von weiß über rötlich, gelblich-weiß und grau aufweist. Mit einem spezifischen Gewicht zwischen 2,09 und 2,16 und einer Mohshärte von 4,0 bis 4,5 zeigt es einen glasartigen Glanz und perfekte Spaltbarkeit entlang der [1011]-Ebene. Levyn ist häufig als Umwandlungs- und Blasenfüllmineral in Basaltformationen zu finden.
Das Mineral ist nach dem französischen Mineralogen Armand Lévy benannt, der von 1795 bis 1841 lebte. Die Kalziumvariante wurde erstmals 1821 in Dalsnipa, Sandoy, auf den Färöer-Inseln identifiziert, während die Natriumvariante später im Jahr 1997 an einem Fundort in Chojabaru, Präfektur Nagasaki, Japan, beschrieben wurde.

For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
