Galenit, auch Bleiglanz genannt, ist die natürliche Mineralform von Blei(II)-Sulfid (PbS) und dient als primäres Erz für Blei sowie als bedeutende Silberquelle.

Dieses Mineral gehört zu den häufigsten und am weitesten verbreiteten Sulfidmineralien, kristallisiert in einem kubischen System und weist häufig oktaedrische Formen auf. Galenit findet man gewöhnlich in Verbindung mit anderen Mineralien wie Sphalerit, Calcit und Fluorit.

Sphalerit, ein Sulfidmineral mit der chemischen Formel (Zn, Fe)S, dient als Haupterz für die Zinkgewinnung. Dieses Mineral kommt in verschiedenen Arten von Lagerstätten vor, hauptsächlich in sedimentär-exhalativen Lagerstätten, Mississippi-Valley-Typ-Lagerstätten und vulkanogen-massiven Sulfidlagerstätten. Es ist häufig mit anderen Mineralien wie Galenit, Chalkopyrit, Pyrit sowie Calcit, Dolomit, Quarz, Rhodochrosit und Fluorit assoziiert.

Quarz ist ein robustes kristallines Mineral, das aus Siliciumdioxid besteht. Seine Struktur besteht aus einer kontinuierlichen Anordnung von SiO4-Silizium-Sauerstoff-Tetraedern, wobei jedes Sauerstoffatom zwischen zwei Tetraedern geteilt wird, was zu der chemischen Formel SiO2 führt. Diese Klassifizierung ordnet Quarz strukturell den Gerüstsilikaten und chemisch den Oxidmineralien zu. Nach Feldspat ist er das zweithäufigste Mineral in der kontinentalen Erdkruste.
