Willemit ist ein seltenes Zinksilikatmineral (Zn2SiO4) und dient als kleinere Zinkquelle. Es zeigt bei Bestrahlung mit kurzwelliger ultravioletter Strahlung eine starke grüne Fluoreszenz und präsentiert unter natürlichem Licht eine Reihe von Farben, oft in faserigen und leuchtend apfelgrünen Formen. Troostit, eine Variante des Willemit, weist eine teilweise Substitution von Zink durch Mangan auf und kommt typischerweise in massiven braunen Formationen vor.
Dieses Mineral wurde 1829 erstmals in der Mine Vieille-Montagne in Belgien identifiziert, wo Armand Lévy Proben von einem Universitätsstudenten erhielt. Er benannte das Mineral zu Ehren des selbsternannten Königs Wilhelm I. der Niederlande, obwohl es manchmal auch als Villemit bezeichnet wird.
Dieses Exemplar zeigt mehrere Habitate von Willemit und höchstwahrscheinlich auch Franklinite.
Zwei Bilder wurden unter langwelliger UV-Strahlung aufgenommen. Hier ist keine Fluoreszenz zu sehen, was eine Bestätigung seiner Herkunft ist, da die meisten Mimetite dieser Herkunft nicht fluoreszierend sind.

For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
Return shipping costs are initially the responsibility of the customer. However, if your claim is approved after review, we will reimburse your reasonable return postage costs.
