Pseudobrookite is a mineral composed of iron titanium oxide, represented by the chemical formula Fe2TiO5 or (Fe3+,Fe2+)2(Ti,Fe2+)O5. It was first identified in 1878 at Uroi Hill (also known as Arany Hill) in Simeria, Hunedoara County, Romania. The name derives from the Greek word for "false," reflecting its deceptive resemblance to brookite. Pseudobrookite typically forms through pneumatolytic processes and alteration within titanium-rich volcanic rocks, including andesite, rhyolite, and basalt, and is often found in association with xenoliths within these volcanic materials. Additionally, it is frequently located in lithophysae.
