Stibiconite is a rare mineral composed of antimony oxide, represented by the formula Sb3O6(OH). The name derives from the Greek words stíbi (στίβι), meaning 'antimony', and kónis (κόνις), meaning 'powder', reflecting its chemical makeup and physical form. This mineral belongs to the pyrochlore supergroup.
First identified in 1862 from a site in the Brandholz – Goldkronach District of the Fichtel Mountains in Bavaria, Germany, stibiconite forms as a secondary alteration product of hydrothermal antimony minerals, particularly stibnite. It is typically found alongside other minerals such as cervantite, valentinite, kermesite, native antimony, and stibnite.
