Azurit hat die chemische Formel Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2, wobei Kupfer(II)-Kationen sowohl an Carbonat- als auch an Hydroxid-Anionen gebunden sind. Es ist eines von zwei relativ häufigen basischen Kupfer(II)-Carbonatmineralien, das andere ist der leuchtend grüne Malachit. Aurichalcit hingegen ist ein seltenes basisches Carbonatmineral, das Kupfer und Zink enthält. Einfaches Kupfercarbonat (CuCO3) kommt in der Natur nicht vor, da das Cu2+-Ion eine starke Affinität zum Hydroxid-Anion HO− hat.
Malachit ist ein Mineral, das aus Kupfercarbonathydroxid besteht und durch die chemische Formel Cu2CO3(OH)2 dargestellt wird. Dieses opake Mineral weist markante grüne Bänder auf und kristallisiert im monoklinen System. Es bildet sich typischerweise in botryoidalen, faserigen oder stalagmitischen Formen in Brüchen und unterirdischen Umgebungen, wo das Vorhandensein von hydrothermalen Flüssigkeiten und der Grundwasserspiegel die chemische Ausfällung erleichtern. Während einzelne Kristalle selten sind, können sie als schlanke oder nadelförmige Prismen erscheinen, und Pseudomorphosen, die eher tafel- oder blockartige Azuritkristalle ähneln, werden ebenfalls gefunden.

Return shipping costs are initially the responsibility of the customer. However, if your claim is approved after review, we will reimburse your reasonable return postage costs.
