Cyprine is a copper-enriched variant of the vesuvianite group, characterized by the chemical formula Ca19Cu2+(Al10Mg2)Si18O68(OH)10. While a similar designation is used for a copper-bearing variety, it is not classified as a copper-dominant member of the group. The term Cyprine (in the strict sense) was first identified at the Wessels mine located near Hotazel in the Kalahari Manganese Field of South Africa.
