Galenit, auch Bleiglanz genannt, ist die natürliche Mineralform von Blei(II)-sulfid (PbS) und dient als primäres Erz für Blei sowie als wichtige Silberquelle.
Dieses Mineral gehört zu den häufigsten und am weitesten verbreiteten Sulfidmineralen, kristallisiert in einem kubischen System und weist häufig oktaedrische Formen auf. Galenit findet sich häufig in Verbindung mit anderen Mineralien wie Sphalerit, Calcit und Fluorit.
Pyrrhotit ist ein weit verbreitetes magnetisches Eisensulfidmineral (Fe₁₋ₓS), das sich durch seinen bronzebraunen Farbton auszeichnet, der oft Anzeichen von Anlaufen zeigt. Dieses Mineral ist eine wichtige Nickelquelle und hat historische Bedeutung für die Eisenproduktion. Es ist jedoch berüchtigt für seine Rolle beim Verfall von Beton und der Rissbildung in Fundamenten, insbesondere in Regionen wie Neuengland, wo seine Oxidation zu Ausdehnung führt. Pyrrhotit wird oft als „Magnetkies“ bezeichnet und weist einen metallischen Glanz, einen gräulich-schwarzen Strich und eine Härte von 3,5 bis 4 auf. Es kommt in magmatischen und metamorphen Gesteinen sowie in hydrothermalen Gängen vor, häufig zusammen mit Mineralien wie Pentlandit, Pyrit und Chalkopyrit.
