Mangan, dargestellt durch das Symbol Mn und mit der Ordnungszahl 25, ist ein hartes, sprödes, silbriges Metall, das häufig zusammen mit Eisen in verschiedenen Mineralien vorkommt. Dieses Übergangsmetall wurde erstmals in den 1770er Jahren isoliert und wird in großem Umfang in industriellen Legierungen verwendet, insbesondere bei der Herstellung von rostfreiem Stahl, wo es die Festigkeit, Verarbeitbarkeit und Verschleißfestigkeit verbessert. Manganoxid dient mehreren Zwecken, darunter als Oxidationsmittel, als Gummiadditiv und als Bestandteil in der Glasherstellung, in Düngemitteln und in der Keramik. Darüber hinaus wird Mangansulfat als Fungizid eingesetzt.
Neben seinen industriellen Anwendungen ist Mangan ein lebenswichtiges Nahrungselement für den Menschen und spielt eine wichtige Rolle im Makronährstoffstoffwechsel, bei der Knochenentwicklung und bei der Abwehr freier Radikale. Es ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil zahlreicher Proteine und Enzyme und ist hauptsächlich in den Knochen sowie in der Leber, den Nieren und dem Gehirn konzentriert. Im Gehirn ist Mangan mit Mangan-Metalloproteinen, insbesondere der Glutaminsynthetase, die in Astrozyten vorkommt, assoziiert.

For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
Return shipping costs are initially the responsibility of the customer. However, if your claim is approved after review, we will reimburse your reasonable return postage costs.
