Pektolith ist ein Mineral, das durch seine weiße bis graue Färbung gekennzeichnet ist und die chemische Formel NaCa2Si3O8(OH) besitzt. Dieses Natrium-Calcium-Hydroxid-Inosilikat kristallisiert im triklinen System und bildet oft strahlige oder faserige Massen. Es hat eine Mohshärte von 4,5 bis 5 und ein spezifisches Gewicht zwischen 2,7 und 2,9. Eine bemerkenswerte Varietät, bekannt als Larimar, weist einen hell- bis himmelblauen Farbton auf, während eine weißliche Variante aus Alaska manchmal als „Alaska-Jade“ bezeichnet wird.
Pektolith wurde erstmals 1828 am Monte Baldo in der Provinz Trient, Italien, identifiziert und leitet seinen Namen von den griechischen Wörtern für „verdichtet“ und „Stein“ ab. Dieses Mineral findet sich hauptsächlich in Nephelin-Syeniten, in hydrothermalen Hohlräumen in Basalten und Diabas sowie in Serpentiniten, oft in Verbindung mit Zeolithen, Datolith, Prehnit, Calcit und Serpentin. Es ist an verschiedenen Orten auf der ganzen Welt verbreitet.
