Die doppelendigen Kristalle des Mooralla Rauchquarzes sind nur an einem Ort auf der Welt zu finden: Mooralla, Victoria, Australien.
Seine doppelendig ausgebildeten Quarzkristalle bilden sich unter der Oberfläche in Geoden aus grüngrauem Rhyolith, bekannt als Rocklands-Rhyolith, der im Spätdevon ausbrach.
Mooralla Rauchquarz wird für seine dunkelbraune bis schwarze Farbe und Transparenz geschätzt, oft mit feinen Wirbeln und gelegentlich Gasblasen in Flüssigkeitseinschlüssen (Enhydros).
Die erste bekannte Entdeckung von Mooralla Rauchquarz erfolgte 1960 durch einen Goldsucher, der die Gegend nach Gold erkundete.
Der Abbau von Mooralla Rauchquarz begann schnell und dauerte bis in die frühen 2000er Jahre an, als er aufgrund einer Reihe von Faktoren, einschließlich der hohen Abbaukosten und der begrenzten Verfügbarkeit der Kristalle, zurückging. Es gibt nur noch wenige kleine Minen in der Gegend.
Der Name "Mooralla Rauchquarz" leitet sich vom Aborigine-Wort für "schwarz" ab. Die Aborigines der Region nutzen die Kristalle seit langem wegen ihrer medizinischen und spirituellen Eigenschaften.
Quarz ist ein robustes kristallines Mineral, das aus Siliziumdioxid besteht. Seine Struktur besteht aus einer kontinuierlichen Anordnung von SiO4-Silizium-Sauerstoff-Tetraedern, wobei jedes Sauerstoffatom zwischen zwei Tetraedern geteilt wird, was zu der chemischen Formel SiO2 führt. Diese Klassifikation ordnet Quarz strukturell als Gerüstsilikatmineral und von der Zusammensetzung her als Oxidmineral ein. Es ist nach Feldspat das zweithäufigste Mineral in der kontinentalen Erdkruste.

For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
Return shipping costs are initially the responsibility of the customer. However, if your claim is approved after review, we will reimburse your reasonable return postage costs.
