Un spécimen très rare et ancien provenant de la carrière de Lengenbach.
La dufrénoysite a été identifiée pour la première fois dans la carrière de Lengenbach, située dans la vallée de Binn, dans le canton du Valais en Suisse. Ce minéral a été décrit en 1845 par Augustin Alexis Damour, qui l'a nommé en l'honneur du géologue et minéralogiste français Armand Dufrénoy. En 1864, Julius Berendes a approfondi l'étude des propriétés de ce minéral dans sa thèse.
La smithite est un sulfosel minéral de formule chimique AgAsS₂. Elle a été identifiée pour la première fois par le minéralogiste R.H. Solly en 1905 à partir d'échantillons prélevés dans la carrière de Lengenbach, près de Binn, en Suisse. Ce minéral porte le nom d'Herbert Smith, qui fut assistant au département de minéralogie du British Museum (Histoire naturelle). La smithite est un dimorphe de la trechmannite.
