Amber is the fossilized resin of trees, valued for its color and natural allure since the Neolithic era, and has been crafted into gemstones since ancient times. It is commonly utilized in jewelry and is also recognized for its purported healing properties in traditional medicine. 

Amber is categorized into five classes based on its chemical composition. As it begins as a viscous tree resin, it often encapsulates various plant and animal materials. Additionally, amber found in coal seams is referred to as resinite, while the specific type located in New Zealand coal seams is known as ambrite.

The numbers under "variant" are the measurements in mm and weight in grams. Where known, the origin of the specimen is mentioned. The number at the end, is the specimen number in our collection. Colours may vary, due to photography.
