Stibnite, also known as antimonite, is a sulfide mineral represented by the chemical formula Sb2S3. This soft, gray substance crystallizes within an orthorhombic space group and serves as the primary source of the metalloid antimony. Its name originates from the Greek word στίβι (stibi) and the Latin term stibium, which were historically used to refer to both the mineral and the element antimony.
