RADIOACTIVE
Autunite, a hydrated calcium uranyl phosphate with the chemical formula Ca(UO2)2(PO4)2·10–12H2O, is a yellow-greenish fluorescent mineral characterized by a hardness of 2 to 2.5. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, typically forming tabular square crystals, which can appear in small crusts or fan-like aggregates. With a uranium content of 48.27%, Autunite is radioactive and serves as a source of uranium ore. Under ultraviolet light, it exhibits a bright green to lime green fluorescence. Although it is sometimes referred to as calco-uranite, this term is largely considered outdated.
This mineral is subject to decomposing and must be treated for consistency.
