Oolitic is a kind of sedimentary rock, usually limestone, made up of small spherical grains known as ooids or ooliths, which are stuck together. These rocks develop in warm, shallow, and active marine waters where calcium carbonate builds up around a center, forming layers that are stacked in circles.

Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable form of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It is widely found, especially as a key element in limestone.
