WULFENITE
WULFENITE
SPECIMEN NR #:
Wulfenite is a mineral composed of lead molybdate, represented by the chemical formula PbMoO4. This mineral typically forms as thin, tabular crystals that exhibit a vibrant color range from bright orange-red to yellow-orange, and occasionally brown, though its coloration can vary significantly. The yellow variant is sometimes referred to as "yellow lead ore."
It crystallizes within the tetragonal system and is commonly found in stubby, pyramidal, or tabular forms, as well as in earthy, granular aggregates. Wulfenite is located in various regions, often in association with lead ores, particularly in the oxidized zones of lead deposits. Additionally, it serves as a secondary source of molybdenum and is highly valued by mineral collectors.
