Bixbyit ist ein Mangan-Eisenoxid-Mineral mit der chemischen Formel (Mn,Fe)2O3. Das Verhältnis von Eisen zu Mangan kann erheblich variieren, wobei viele Proben wenig bis gar kein Eisen enthalten. Dieses Mineral erscheint als metallisches Dunkelschwarz und hat eine Mohshärte von 6,0 bis 6,5. Bixbyit ist relativ selten und wird von Sammlern wegen seiner Tendenz, euhedrische isometrische Kristalle zu bilden, die die Form von Würfeln, Oktaedern und Dodekaedern annehmen können, geschätzt.
Es wird typischerweise in Verbindung mit Mineralien wie Beryll, Quarz, Spessartin, Hämatit, Pseudobrookit, Hausmannit, Braunstein und Topas in pneumatolytischen oder hydrothermalen Gängen und Hohlräumen sowie in metamorphen Gesteinen gefunden. Zusätzlich kann es in lithophysalen Hohlräumen innerhalb von Rhyolith vorkommen. Bedeutende Fundorte für Bixbyit sind die Distrikte Jhabua und Chhindwara in Indien sowie die Thomas Range im Juab County, Utah, wobei Vorkommen auch in San Luis Potosí, Mexiko; Nordpatagonien, Argentinien; Girona, Katalonien, Spanien; Schweden, Deutschland, Namibia, Simbabwe und Südafrika gemeldet wurden.

For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
Return shipping costs are initially the responsibility of the customer. However, if your claim is approved after review, we will reimburse your reasonable return postage costs.
