Cavansit, benannt nach seiner chemischen Zusammensetzung aus Kalzium-Vanadium-Silikat, ist ein tiefblaues, wasserhaltiges Kalzium-Vanadium-Schichtsilikatmineral, das als Sekundärmineral in Basalt- und Andesitgesteinen zusammen mit verschiedenen Zeolithmineralien vorkommt. Seine blaue Farbe leitet sich von Vanadium, einem Metallion, ab. Cavansit wurde 1967 im Malheur County, Oregon, entdeckt und gilt als relativ seltenes Mineral. Es ist polymorph mit dem noch selteneren Mineral Pentagonit und wird am häufigsten in Pune, Indien, und in den Dekkan-Trapps, einer großen magmatischen Provinz, gefunden.
Stilbit bezeichnet eine Gruppe von Tektosilikatmineralien innerhalb der Zeolithfamilie. Ursprünglich bis 1997 als eigenständige Mineralart klassifiziert, wurde es von der International Mineralogical Association neu definiert, um eine Serie zu umfassen, die die spezifischen Typen Stilbit-Ca und Stilbit-Na einschließt. Stilbit-Ca, die häufigere Variante, ist ein wasserhaltiges Silikat, das aus Kalzium, Natrium und Aluminium besteht und durch die Formel NaCa4(Si27Al9)O72·28(H2O) dargestellt wird. Im Gegensatz dazu weist Stilbit-Na einen höheren Natriumgehalt im Vergleich zu Kalzium auf. Diese beiden Arten erscheinen dem bloßen Auge identisch, und der Begriff Stilbit wird weiterhin in Kontexten verwendet, in denen keine detaillierten Tests durchgeführt wurden.
