Chalkopyrit ist ein Mineral, das aus Kupfer, Eisen und Schwefel besteht und als primäre Quelle für Kupfererz bekannt ist. Seine chemische Zusammensetzung wird durch die Formel CuFeS2 dargestellt, und es kristallisiert im tetragonalen System. Das Mineral weist eine messingfarbene bis goldgelbe Tönung auf und besitzt eine Härte von 3,5 bis 4 auf der Mohs-Skala, mit einem charakteristischen grünlich-schwarzen Strich.
Manganoan Calcit, auch bekannt als Manganocalcit, ist eine manganreiche Varietät des Calcit, die eine rosa Färbung aufweist. Ihre chemische Zusammensetzung wird durch die Formel (Ca,Mn)CO3 dargestellt. Ursprünglich im Bergbaudistrikt Banská Štiavnica in der Slowakischen Republik identifiziert, ist dieses Mineral weltweit zu finden, mit bemerkenswerten Vorkommen in der Höhle der Schwerter in Naica, Chihuahua, Mexiko, und in Bulgarien.
Aufgrund ihrer Ähnlichkeiten kommt es oft zu Verwechslungen zwischen Manganoan Calcit und Rhodochrosit. Der Mangangehalt in Manganoan Calcit kann je nach Fundort variieren, und er existiert in einer festen Lösungsserie mit Calcit und Rhodochrosit, was bei zunehmender Mangankonzentration zu einer tieferen Rotfärbung führt.
