Goethit ist ein Mineral, das zur Diaspor-Gruppe gehört und als Eisen(III)-oxid-hydroxid, speziell in seiner α-Polymorph-Form, charakterisiert wird. Es kommt häufig in Böden und Umgebungen mit niedrigen Temperaturen vor, einschließlich sedimentärer Kontexte. Historisch bekannt für seine Verwendung als Pigment, insbesondere brauner Ocker, wurde Goethit in alten Farbproben aus den Höhlen von Lascaux in Frankreich identifiziert. Das Mineral wurde erstmals 1806 dokumentiert, basierend auf Exemplaren aus der Grube Hollertszug in Herdorf, Deutschland, und ist zu Ehren des deutschen Universalgelehrten Johann Wolfgang von Goethe benannt.
Goethit besteht aus Eisenoxidhydroxid mit dreiwertigem Eisen als Hauptelement. Es ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil von Rost und Raseneisenstein. Das Mineral weist eine Härte von 5,0 bis 5,5 auf der Mohs-Skala auf und hat eine spezifische Dichte von 3,3 bis 4,3. Obwohl es typischerweise massive Strukturen bildet, kann Goethit auch als prismatische nadelförmige Kristalle, oft als „Nadeleisenstein“ bezeichnet, auftreten.

If your item arrives damaged, we kindly ask that you provide a short, continuous video showing the specimen from at least six angles. You can simply hold it in your hands and gently rotate it while filming. Please also include a clear view of the package label in the video so we can assist you as quickly as possible.
For all items reported as damaged or broken, we do require the item to be returned to us before a refund can be processed.
Return shipping costs are initially the responsibility of the customer. However, if your claim is approved after review, we will reimburse your reasonable return postage costs.
